K9s VS Code Extension

A VS Code extension to open K9s in a new terminal window inside VS Code.

Demonstration

Clarification

I am not the creator nor owner of K9s. I simply took the open-source, free tool called k9s, and made a vscode extension for it.

Features

  • Opens K9s in a dedicated editor tab terminal.
  • Quickly launch K9s with a single click.
  • Easily switch between kubernetes clusters with a single click.
  • Improve your multi-cloud workspace, adding a visual icon to each cluster based on it's provider (AWS, Azure, GCP, or local)

Requirements

  • Windows only (currently)
  • K9s must be installed (Get K9s)
  • Git Bash must be installed (Get Git Bash)
  • The cluster's name and url should match the default settings of the cloud provider for the provider detection to work correctly. Simply do not mess with your local config file and you will have no issues.

Usage

  1. Click the K9s icon in the sidebar.
  2. Click "Open K9s" in the panel.
  3. K9s will open inside a new terminal editor tab.
  4. Left-click on a kubernetes cluster to switch the active context to it. right-click to copy it's name.
