Boost your productivity with native IntelliSense in the VS Code Integrated Terminal! This extension provides real-time autocomplete suggestions for your project's commands, script names, workspace packages, and dependencies.

Say goodbye to constantly opening your package.json to remember exactly how you named that one build script.

Features

1. Smart Script Autocompletion

Provides rapid autocomplete suggestions for package scripts right when you type your package manager's run command.

  • npm: npm run <script>
  • pnpm: pnpm run <script>
  • bun: bun run <script>
  • yarn: yarn <script>

2. Dependency Update, Info & Removal Autocompletion

Can't remember the exact name of an installed package? We've got you.

Get autocomplete suggestions for your installed packages when you run commands like uninstall, update, or view:

  • npm uninstall <package> / npm rm <package> / npm update <package> / npm view <package> / npm info <package>
  • yarn remove <package> / yarn upgrade <package> / yarn info <package>
  • pnpm remove <package> / pnpm update <package>
  • bun rm <package> / bun update <package>

3. Executable Binaries Autocompletion

Quickly execute local packages from your node_modules/.bin directory. Support includes:

  • npx <bin>
  • pnpm exec <bin> / pnpm dlx <bin>
  • yarn dlx <bin>
  • bunx <bin>

4. Monorepo Workspace Suggestions & Script Resolution

Easily target specific monorepo packages! When providing workspace filter flags, the extension suggests available scoped package names:

  • npm run dev --workspace <package-name>
  • yarn workspace <package-name>
  • pnpm --filter <package-name>

Even better, if you specify the workspace before the run command, the extension will instantly filter the available scripts to only show those inside the targeted package!

  • npm --workspace=@my-org/web run <scripts-from-web-only>
  • yarn workspace @my-org/ui <scripts-from-ui-only>

5. Local npm link Auto-Discovery

npm link requires you to perfectly remember the exact formal package name of the folder you want to link. Now, simply typing npm link or yarn link will auto-scan your neighboring directories and suggest the names of the local packages sitting right next to your project.

Configuration Settings

Customize how the extension behaves via VS Code settings (settings.json):

Setting Type Default Description
terminalNpmIntellisense.enabledManagers Array ["npm", "yarn", "pnpm", "bun"] Toggle Autocomplete for specific package managers.
terminalNpmIntellisense.excludePatterns Array ["**/node_modules/**", "**/dist/**", "**/build/**"] Glob patterns to ignore when deep-scanning monorepo workspace packages.

Clear Cache

A built-in command (terminalNpmIntellisense.clearCache) that allows you to manually clear internal autocomplete caches if paths or package configurations change externally. Look up "Clear Caches" in the Command Palette.
