🚀 Installation

  1. Install from VS Code Marketplace (or install the .vsix file)
  2. Open Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P / Cmd+Shift+P)
  3. Run: Mistral: Manage API Key
  4. Enter your API key from console.mistral.ai

🔑 Getting Your API Key

  1. Go to Mistral AI Console
  2. Sign up or log in with your account
  3. Navigate to API Keys section
  4. Click Create new key
  5. Copy the key and paste it into VS Code when prompted

💡 Tip: Devstral models are currently free during the introductory period!


💬 Usage

  1. Open GitHub Copilot Chat panel in VS Code
  2. Click the model selector dropdown
  3. Choose a Mistral AI model:
    • Devstral 2 for complex coding tasks
    • Devstral Small 2 for efficient coding
    • Mistral Large 3 for general-purpose tasks
    • Mistral Medium 3.1 for balanced performance
  4. Start chatting!

  • VS Code 1.104.0 or higher
  • GitHub Copilot Chat extension installed
  • A valid Mistral AI API key
