Amikoo
Your QA assistant, right inside the editor. Amikoo helps you understand your
tests, executions, coverage, and failures — and can read your workspace and repair
tests for you — all from a chat panel in VS Code.
Amikoo is provided by MuukLabs Inc. and requires a MuukLabs account.
Features
- Chat in an editor tab — open it from the Amikoo activity-bar icon or with
Cmd/Ctrl+Alt+A. Ask about your tests, executions, coverage gaps, and failures
and get streaming answers with rich markdown and syntax-highlighted code.
- Multiple conversations — create, switch, rename, and delete conversations
from the sidebar; your history is there when you come back.
- Reads your workspace — Amikoo can open files and browse folders to ground its
answers in your actual project.
- Edits with your approval — when Amikoo proposes a file change, you get a diff
to review and apply or discard. Nothing is written until you say so.
- Runs commands with your approval — Amikoo can run terminal commands (tests,
installs, git, …) after you approve them. Shell access is asked for separately
from file edits, so it's always a deliberate choice.
- Explores and repairs against your live app — using the Playwright Agent CLI,
Amikoo can drive a real browser to inspect pages and fix broken selectors.
- Guided choices & file deliveries — when Amikoo offers options they appear as
buttons, and files it produces show up as one-click downloads.
- Stop anytime — interrupt a running turn with the Stop button; work halts
immediately, both in the chat and on your machine.
- Credits at a glance — your remaining credits show in the account menu.
Getting started
- Install the extension.
- Click the Amikoo icon in the activity bar (or press
Cmd/Ctrl+Alt+A).
- Sign in with your MuukLabs account when prompted — a browser window opens to
complete sign-in, then you're returned to the editor.
- Start chatting. Responses stream in with markdown and highlighted code.

Working with your workspace
Amikoo only touches your machine with your permission, and always scoped to the
folders open in your workspace:
- Reading files and folders happens automatically to answer your questions.
- Writing/editing a file always shows a diff you approve or discard first.
- Terminal commands always ask for approval before running.
If you'd rather not be prompted every time in a given workspace, you can turn on
auto-approval for writes and/or terminal commands in Settings (see below). You can
revoke those at any time with Amikoo: Reset Tool Approvals.
Live app exploration (optional)
For exploring or repairing tests against a running site, Amikoo uses the
Playwright Agent CLI. To enable it, install it once:
npm install -g @playwright/cli
npx playwright install chromium

| Setting |
Default |
Description |
amikoo.autoApproveWrites |
false |
Apply Amikoo's file writes/edits in this workspace without asking each time. |
amikoo.autoApproveTerminal |
false |
Run Amikoo's terminal commands in this workspace without asking each time. |
Both are per-workspace and off by default, so Amikoo asks before it changes
