Multifly for VS Code

Your tasks shouldn't have to take turns

Keep task workspaces, native Copilot conversations and reusable engineering context organized without leaving your editor.

Install

Download the VSIX from the Multifly release page. In VS Code, choose Extensions > Install from VSIX.

Requirements

  • Windows x64 with Git.
  • VS Code 1.102 or later and enabled GitHub Copilot access.
  • The Multifly local runtime from the Windows package.
  • Workspace Trust for repository and task operations.

Native Agent Host features additionally require a supported VS Code/Insiders installation. Unavailable features are shown explicitly.

Get started

  1. Start the Multifly runtime and open your repository in VS Code.
  2. Open Multifly > Runway from the Activity Bar.
  3. Register the repository and create a task.
  4. Open the task's worktree and connect an available agent host/provider.
  5. Use native Copilot Chat to choose your agent and model, review context and send.

The Command Palette provides task switching, checkpoints, memory, skills and reviewed context handoff. Preparing a Copilot draft does not send it automatically.

The extension does not include the runtime executable. Install the Windows package alongside it. This is an independent preview extension, not a Microsoft or GitHub product.

Publish the VSIX

This package is a Visual Studio Code extension, not a Visual Studio extension.

  1. Open Manage Publishers & Extensions and select the publisher you are authorized to manage.
  2. For a new listing, choose New extension > Visual Studio Code.
  3. Upload multifly-0.2.2.vsix. For an existing VS Code listing, use its update action.

If the portal reports "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: v1", check the selected product first. The Marketplace team documents this error when a VS Code package is submitted through the Visual Studio uploader.

Build and validate a new package with npm run package:vsix. The checks verify the VS Code target, engine, identity, compiled entry point and packaged assets. Publishing still requires permission for the Multifly publisher.
