Getting Started

1. Install the extension from the VS Code marketplace
2. Open the Prompt Expert sidebar by clicking the icon in the activity bar
3. Configure your AI provider and API key in the settings
4. Start optimizing your prompts!

Configuration

Configure the extension through VS Code settings:

• promptExpert.optimizationStyle: Choose optimization style (comprehensive, concise, technical, creative)
• promptExpert.includeExamples: Include examples in optimized prompts
• promptExpert.showComparison: Show before/after comparison
• promptExpert.currentProvider: Select AI provider (gemini, openai, anthropic)
• promptExpert.currentModel: Choose the AI model to use

Usage

1. Open the Prompt Expert sidebar
2. Enter your prompt in the text area
3. Select your preferred optimization style
4. Click "Optimize Prompt" to get an improved version
5. Review the optimized prompt and copy it for use

Requirements

• VS Code 1.103.0 or higher
• API key for your chosen AI provider
