MonoLisa for VS CodeExperience MonoLisa — the programming font designed for readability and flow — directly inside VS Code. Preview the font, configure it for your editor, and choose from four handcrafted color themes. Instant PreviewOpen the configuration panel without installing anything:
The panel uses your installed MonoLisa fonts when available and a bundled Trial preview otherwise. Commercial font files are not included in the extension. Use MonoLisa in Your EditorTo try MonoLisa as your actual editor font: Step 1 — Get Trial Fonts Run MonoLisa: Get Trial Fonts from the Command Palette. This opens the MonoLisa Trial checkout in your browser. Follow the displayed flow, install the fonts for your operating system, then reload or restart VS Code. MonoLisa Trial is covered by the Personal section of the MonoLisa EULA. You may use it on your own computers, including a work computer, for personal, non-commercial use. The EULA permits using the typeface while developing a product, but not including it as part of a product. Do not share the font files. Step 2 — Apply Trial Setup Run MonoLisa: Apply Trial Setup. This configures MonoLisa across all VS Code surfaces: MonoLisa Code for code surfaces (editor, integrated terminal, debug console, SCM input, and chat code blocks) and MonoLisa Text for the markdown preview. After operating-system installation and a VS Code reload, applying the setup makes MonoLisa your editor font. Remove Trial fontsRemoving the extension does not remove Trial fonts installed on your computer. Uninstall the MonoLisa Code Trial and MonoLisa Text Trial faces with the macOS or Windows font manager, then reload VS Code. On Linux, remove the Trial font files from ThemesFour color themes ship with the extension, spanning bright, intermediate, and deep surfaces:
Apply a theme via MonoLisa: Select Theme, choose it in VS Code's theme picker, or fine-tune contrast, syntax color intensity, and comment prominence in the configuration panel. Use Your MonoLisa FontsIf you already own MonoLisa, install your Code and Text fonts and open MonoLisa: Open Configuration. The extension detects supported font capabilities and shows the options available for your build. For a renamed or customized build, open Already own a custom build?, enter its download suffix in the matching Coding font or Prose font tab, then choose Check custom build. Some advanced controls are available only when the installed font supports them. The extension does not bundle commercial fonts or bypass MonoLisa licensing.
