Apivo
A lightweight, local-first API client for VS Code and Cursor. Import a cURL command, send the request, and inspect the response without leaving your editor.
Requests run in the extension host (Node.js), not in a browser, so there are no CORS limits and headers such as Cookie, Host, Origin and User-Agent are sent exactly as you set them. No proxy is used and nothing is sent to an Apivo server.
Features
- Request editor and response viewer side by side: method, URL, query params, path variables, headers, auth (Bearer, Basic, API key) and body (JSON, text, form URL-encoded, form data).
- Response details: status, time, size, pretty JSON, raw body, headers, cookies and previews for images, PDF and HTML.
- cURL import: from the editor selection, the clipboard or an input box. Importing never sends the request; you always press Send yourself.
.http / .rest files: a "Send Request" CodeLens above each request, with @variables, ### separators and # @name.
- Environments:
{{variables}} across URL, headers, auth and body. Optional import of selected keys from a .env file.
- Collections: save requests into folders, stored privately or in
.apivo/collections.json in your workspace for sharing.
- History: method, URL, status, duration and time of each request, with credentials removed.
- Cancel any in-flight request. Requests are never retried automatically: one click sends one request.
- Code generation for cURL, Fetch, Axios, Python and more.
Getting started
- Run Apivo: Open from the Command Palette, or click the Apivo icon in the activity bar.
- Paste a URL or a cURL command into the URL field, or run Apivo: Import cURL.
- Press Send or
Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on macOS).
You can also select a cURL command in any editor, right-click and choose Send with Apivo. The request opens in Apivo and waits for you to send it.

Privacy and security
- Everything stays on your machine. Apivo has no account, no cloud sync and no telemetry.
- Tokens, passwords, API keys and secret environment variables are stored in the editor's encrypted SecretStorage, never in settings, workspace files or history.
- Logs in the Apivo output channel redact credentials, for example
Authorization: [REDACTED].
- Values from
.env files are only imported for keys you select, and are never displayed.
- TLS verification is on by default, and Apivo shows a warning while it is turned off.
Requirements
VS Code 1.82 or later, or Cursor.
