MockingBird

A unified AI coding workspace that remembers your project — even when you switch AI models.

MockingBird is a multi-model AI coding assistant for VS Code. Chat with Claude, GPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek models side by side in your editor — without losing your project's context every time you switch providers.

Why MockingBird

Most AI coding tools tie you to a single model. When you hit a rate limit, want a second opinion, or need a different model's strengths, switching means starting from a cold context — the new model has no memory of what you were just working on.

MockingBird solves this by preserving your workspace context across model switches, so you can move between models mid-task without repeating yourself or losing continuity.

Features

  • Multi-model chat — Access Claude, GPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek models from a single sidebar chat interface.
  • Context continuity — Your conversation and project context persist when you switch models, not just within one.
  • Propose & apply edits — AI-suggested code changes are shown as reviewable diffs you can accept or reject before they touch your files.
  • Builder Mode — An agentic mode that can plan and execute multi-step coding tasks with a safety net (git commits per step, manual or automatic apply).

Requirements

  • VS Code 1.125.0 or later
  • A MockingBird account (sign up via mockingbirdai.dev)

Known Issues

MockingBird is in early, active development. If you run into a bug or unexpected behavior, please open an issue or reach out via support.
