Tangere for Visual Studio Code

A beautiful and legible color theme for Visual Studio Code, inspired by the Tangere terminal palette.

Overview

Tangere is a 16-color palette theme that combines aesthetics with exceptional legibility. The palette avoids visual dissonance by using complementary sectors of the color wheel, while maintaining systematically high degrees of contrast between foreground and background colors.

The theme is available in two variants:

  • Tangere Light – A light variant perfect for bright environments
  • Tangere Dark – A dark variant optimized for reduced eye strain

Features

✨ Carefully Crafted Palette – Based on color theory principles for harmonious color relationships

🎯 High Contrast – Ensures excellent readability for extended coding sessions

🌓 Light & Dark Variants – Choose the variant that best suits your environment and preference

💻 Complete Language Support – Full syntax highlighting for all major programming languages

Installation

  1. Open the Extensions view in VS Code (Ctrl+Shift+X)
  2. Search for "Tangere"
  3. Click Install
  4. Open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P) and select Preferences: Color Theme, then choose either "Tangere Light" or "Tangere Dark"

Inspiration

This theme is inspired by the Tangere terminal palette by François Tonneau, which brings the same design principles to terminal applications.
