Free you from copy & paste to ChatGPT. "Coworker" that displays a real-time ChatGPT conversation in a second column, allowing users to interact with an AI assistant while working on their code. And, "Coworker" always send a request to ChatGPT with active window's codes and errors synchronized automatically.

Getting Started

  1. Install the sideGPT extension from the Visual Studio Code Marketplace.

  2. Obtain an API key from OpenAI by visiting https://beta.openai.com/signup/.

  3. To set up the API key in the extension, there are two ways:

    Method 1: Via the Extension Settings

    • In Visual Studio Code, go to the Extensions tab.
    • Find the sideGPT extension and click on the gear icon to access its settings.
    • Enter your API key in the "API Key" field.

    Method 2: Via "API_KEY settings” Link on extension window

    • Click "API_KEY settings” and then the setting pop-up window will open.
    • Enter your API key in the "API Key" field.
  4. Save your settings.

  5. Use the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P or Cmd+Shift+P on Mac) and type “Coworker" to start a new ChatGPT session.

Usage

  • Type your questions or prompts in the input field and push the button “Request” to get a response from ChatGPT.
  • Send the value of input field, current code, error and conversation history to ChatGPT
