More Info

Runwright

Internal VS Code extension to run Playwright commands from a guided webview with:

  • Scrollable logs container
  • Run summary (passed/failed/flaky/skipped)
  • One-click report opening
  • Recent runs (last 10): reload the form, re-run, and reopen the saved report with its traces

Usage

  • Open the extension panel running the runwright command.
  • Right-click on a selected test in the editor and choose "Add test to Runwright" (or equivalent context menu option) to automatically populate the extension's test input with the selected test.

Recent runs

  • Each run is saved with its filters, options and captured values. Click a row to see its values in Captured Values.
  • Load fills the form without running. Re-run runs the same command again.
  • Trace opens the saved report over http. The report is only copied when the run produced traces.
  • Reports are stored in the extension's global storage. Use Clear history to delete all runs and free that space.

Internal distribution

This extension is for internal usage only.

  • Do not publish to VS Code Marketplace.
  • Distribute as .vsix through internal channels.

Local development

This folder is a standalone project inside dev-utilities-front. It is not part of the npm workspaces (packages/*), is not published to CodeArtifact, and needs Node 20 or later (required by @vscode/vsce). Run every command from tools/runwright.

  1. Install dependencies (from tools/runwright):
    • npm install
  2. Package + install in current editor (auto-detect):
    • npm run package:install
  3. Restart the editor.
  4. Look for the Runwright icon in the activity bar and click on it to open the extension panel or run the runwright command.
