Welcome to Cypher

Cypher is your next-generation AI-powered cybersecurity assistant, built to help developers identify and resolve vulnerabilities in their code directly within Visual Studio Code. Whether you're working in JavaScript, Python, C, or C++, Cypher brings intelligent security analysis to your fingertips without interrupting your workflow.

What is Cypher?

Cypher acts as your intelligent security reviewer. It scans your source code, detects potential vulnerabilities, and provides AI-driven insights. The goal is to help you write more secure code without relying solely on manual code reviews or external tools.

Web Dashboard

In addition to the in-editor experience, Cypher offers a companion web platform where you can:

  • View your past scan results
  • Track vulnerability severity scores over time
  • Monitor personalized security metrics tailored to your development patterns

All analysis history is tied to your profile, giving you a consistent and centralized view of your application's security posture.

Key Features

  • Secure one-time login or registration process
  • On-demand code scanning directly from VS Code
  • AI-assisted analysis of vulnerabilities and risky patterns
  • Real-time severity scoring and reporting
  • Web dashboard to view historical data and personalized insights

Activation

The Cypher extension activates automatically under the following conditions:

  • When VS Code is launched (to prompt for login or registration)
  • When files written in supported languages are opened:
    • JavaScript
    • Python
    • C
    • C++

This ensures you're always ready to scan and analyze code without any manual setup.

Available Commands

You can access all Cypher functionality from the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P or Cmd+Shift+P on macOS). The currently available command is:

  • Cypher: Scan Files — Analyzes the active file for potential security vulnerabilities

As the extension evolves, more commands and capabilities will be introduced.

Version

This is version 1.0 of Cypher. It’s the initial public release and includes the core functionality for login, scanning, and viewing results.

We’re committed to improving Cypher over time. Planned features include:

  • Live feedback as you type
  • Team and organization dashboards
  • GitHub and CI/CD integrations
  • Expanded language support

Getting Started

Install the extension from the Visual Studio Code Marketplace, launch VS Code, and follow the prompts to sign up or log in. Once you're in, open a supported file and run the scan command to begin reviewing your code.

Feedback and Contributions

We're actively developing Cypher and would love to hear your feedback. If you encounter issues or have feature suggestions, please submit them via our GitHub repository.

Cypher is designed to help you write safer code, with less effort. Start scanning and stay secure.
