Copy File Name to Clipboard

This Visual Studio Code extension allows you to quickly copy the file name of an open tab to the clipboard. It adds a convenient option to the right-click menu of each tab, saving you time when working with files.


Features

  • Right-click on any open tab in VS Code and select Copy File Name to Clipboard.
  • Automatically copies the file name (without the path) to your clipboard.
  • Works seamlessly with files in all directories and projects.

How to Use

  1. Install the extension from the Visual Studio Code Marketplace.
  2. Open a file in Visual Studio Code.
  3. Right-click on the file's tab (in the editor or explorer).
  4. Select Copy File Name to Clipboard from the context menu.
  5. The file name will be copied to your clipboard, and you'll see a confirmation message.

Installation

From Visual Studio Code Marketplace

  1. Open the Extensions view in VS Code (Ctrl+Shift+X or Cmd+Shift+X on macOS).
  2. Search for "Copy File Name to Clipboard."
  3. Click Install.

Manual Installation

  1. Download the .vsix file from the Releases page.
  2. Open Visual Studio Code.
  3. Open the Extensions view (Ctrl+Shift+X).
  4. Click the ... menu in the Extensions view and select Install from VSIX.
  5. Select the downloaded .vsix file to install the extension.

Requirements

  • Visual Studio Code version ^1.78.0 or higher.
