OS Helper
A sidebar for VS Code that helps you start a new operating system project:
pick a type , a name and some fonts , and it writes a real skeleton
into your workspace plus the open-source readers you need.
Features
Create OS
Choose the OS type:
native → boot/boot.S, boot/linker.ld, kernel/main.c, kernel/console.c, Makefile
html → index.html, styles.css, app.js
app → manifest.json, src/main.js
The skeleton is created inside your workspace folder , so you can open the
Explorer and start adding your own files right away.
Download open-source readers into <os>/lib (each toggleable):
lib/ttf-reader/stb_truetype.h — read TrueType fonts
lib/image-reader/stb_image.h — read images (png/jpg/…)
lib/audio-reader/stb_vorbis.c — read Ogg Vorbis audio
plus the license of each project
Font Store
The whole Google Fonts catalogue (~1950 fonts), searchable, with lazy
previews while you scroll.
Select one or more fonts and download them as .ttf.
Font folder rule
Fonts are copied into your OS project like this:
one font selected → system/fonts/roboto/roboto.ttf
several fonts → system/fonts/font1/roboto.ttf, system/fonts/font2/inter.ttf
My Fonts
Lists every font you downloaded, with quick buttons to reveal the files.
Usage
Open the OS Helper icon in the activity bar (or run
OSHelper: Open the sidebar from the Command Palette).
Go to Create OS , pick type/name/fonts, press Create .
The Explorer opens on your new project — keep coding.
Requirements
VS Code 1.140.0 or newer.
Internet access for the Font Store and for fetching the open-source readers.

Known Issues
