Auto Import Verse Files automatically imports all .verse files from a chosen folder into your UEFN project. It streamlines your workflow by keeping your imported files in sync with your source folder, while respecting any manual modifications you’ve made.
Features
Easy Folder Selection:
Quickly select your source folder using a built-in folder picker.
Automatic & Manual Import:
Automatically import files when a UEFN project is opened, or trigger an import manually with a dedicated command.
Auto Sync:
Automatically update unmodified imported files if the source file changes. Files you’ve manually modified, and files with unsaved changes in the editor, are never overwritten. Automatic import and syncing only happen in UEFN projects (folders with the UEFN digest files).
Reload File from Source:
Edited an imported file and want the original back? Open it and run UEFN Auto Import: Reload File from Source. A review screen lists exactly which lines will be removed from your file and which lines will be added from the source. Click Reload from Source to replace your copy, or Cancel to leave it alone. After a reload the file is back in sync and auto-updates again.
Push File to Source:
Made an improvement in a project that you want in your shared utilities? Run UEFN Auto Import: Push File to Source. The review screen lists every change as its own card with a checkbox: uncheck any change you don't want in the source (for example a project-specific tweak), then click Push. Line endings and encoding of the source file are preserved.
Safe Reviews:
If the file or the source changes while a review is open, the review refreshes instead of writing outdated content. Nothing is written until you confirm. Use Open in Diff Editor if you also want VS Code's side-by-side view.
Quick Access:
Imported files get Reload and Push buttons in the editor title bar, and both commands are in the right-click menu of the file's tab and of the file in the Explorer.
Preserve Folder Hierarchy:
Optionally keep the folder structure from your source folder when importing files.
Custom Import Location:
Specify a custom folder name for your imported files. If left empty, files are imported directly into your project root.

Extension Settings
Source Folder:
Set the path to the folder containing your .verse files.
Auto Sync:
True (default): Imported files are updated automatically when the source changes.
False: Files are imported only once. Use Reload File from Source to update a file on demand.
Auto Import on Project Open:
True (default): Files are automatically imported when a UEFN project is opened.
False: Import must be triggered manually.
Keep Source Folder Hierarchy:
Preserve the folder structure from your source folder in your project.
Custom Folder Name:
Specify a folder in your project where imported files should be placed. Leave empty to import files directly into the project root.
Important:
A source folder must be configured before importing. When folder hierarchy preservation is disabled, duplicate filenames are rejected instead of being allowed to overwrite one another.
