Vaultwarden Env Sync

Sidebar panel (shield icon in the Activity Bar) to sync .env files and other small text files between machines through Secure Notes in Vaultwarden or Bitwarden.

  • Account: sign in from the panel. Server can be self-hosted (any URL), bitwarden.com or bitwarden.eu. Supports a two-step code. The panel uses its own CLI data folder, separate from the bw in your terminal.
  • Files: track files with the + button, the Explorer context menu, or "Track Files from Vault…". Per file: pull, push, stop tracking. In the title bar: pull all, push all.
  • Tracked paths live in .vscode/vaultwarden.json (names only, no contents) and can be committed. Notes are named <project>: <relative/path>.

Requires the Bitwarden CLI (npm i -g @bitwarden/cli). Secure Notes have a size limit (roughly 7,000 to 10,000 characters), so this is meant for env files, not big files.
