IBM i Debug

IBM i Debug is an extension for Visual Studio Code that provides interactive debugging support for debugging IBM i COBOL and RPG applications in VS Code, in conjunction with IBM i Debug Service.

This extension is usually used with Merlin or Code for IBM i.

It is possible to use the debugger outside of those extensions. See the contributed launch configurations when managing the local launch.json file.

Prerequisites

1. Ensure the following PTFs are on the chosen system
   • IBM i 7.6 PTF SJ08472
   • IBM i 7.5 PTF SJ08535
   • IBM i 7.4 PTF SJ08540
   • IBM i 7.3 PTF SJ08544
2. Certificates are required on the server and client. You can use IBM Navigator for i to generate the certificates.
