IBM i Debug

IBM i Debug is an extension for Visual Studio Code that provides interactive debugging support for debugging IBM i COBOL and RPG applications in VS Code, in conjunction with IBM i Debug Service.

This extension is usually used with Code for IBM i.

It is possible to use the debugger outside of those extensions. See the contributed launch configurations when managing the local launch.json file.

Prerequisites

1. Ensure the following PTFs are on the chosen system
   • IBM i 7.6 PTF SJ11739
   • IBM i 7.5 PTF SJ11744
   • IBM i 7.4 PTF SJ11761
   • IBM i 7.3 PTF SJ11766
2. Certificates are required on the server and client. You can use IBM Navigator for i to generate the certificates.
