Engineering Workflow Management

Engineering Workflow Management (EWM) is the official IBM maintained extension for Visual Studio Code that provides developers with the ability to use Jazz Source Control. With this extension you can:

  • Manage your source code lifecycle within VS Code, from loading code to handling conflicts and delivering changes.

  • Ensure your changes are linked to defects, stories, and other work items, making it easier to track development activities.

  • Manage and monitor builds directly from your VS Code environment.

System Requirements

This extension works with:

  • IBM Engineering Workflow Management v7.2
  • Microsoft VS Code version 1.89.0 or later. We recommend using the latest VS Code version available.

Features

Using this extension, you can connect and perform the following essential operations directly from your VS Code editor:

Source Control

  • Create a connection to an EWM SCM repository
  • Load project areas and repository workspaces
  • Load single or multiple components from repository workspace into a VS Code workspace
  • Unload code from repository workspace
  • Reload out-of-sync workspaces
  • Track local changes
  • View the diffs of local or remote changes in the compare editor
  • Checkin or undo local changes
  • Accept incoming changes
  • Resolve merge conflicts using the conflict editor
  • Deliver changes
  • Open EWM SCM work items in your web browser
  • Perform EWM SCM operations using the VS Code terminal

Traceability between code and work items

  • Associate one or more work items with a change set
  • Disassociate one or more work items from a change set

Build

  • View build definitions for a project area
  • Request a personal or team build
  • Open build results in your web browser
