One Click Git Pull

One-click Git Pull from the VS Code status bar, by Hexora.

Features

  • Adds a Git Pull button to the bottom-left status bar.
  • Clicking the button opens the integrated terminal and runs git pull --ff-only.
  • Uses the workspace folder containing the active editor, or asks which folder to use when needed.
  • Does not run background polling or send telemetry.

Requirements

  • Git installed and accessible on your PATH.
  • A local Git repository with a configured upstream branch.
  • Network access and Git credentials for your remote, as needed.

Usage

  1. Open a Git project folder in VS Code.
  2. Click Git Pull in the bottom status bar.
  3. View Git's output in the integrated terminal.

--ff-only updates the branch only when no merge commit is needed. Git might still refuse a pull due to uncommitted changes; commit, stash, or discard those changes manually as appropriate.

Privacy and security

No analytics, external requests, or bundled dependencies. This extension only runs the Git CLI command locally in the VS Code terminal when clicked. As with any pull operation, check remote and repository trust before pulling.
