Installation
Launch VS Code Quick Open (Ctrl+P), paste the following command, and press enter.
Search your codebase with Hawkeye without leaving VS Code.
Hawkeye is a fast, standalone search engine for large codebases. This extension is a client for the Hawkeye desktop app — index your projects in Hawkeye once, then search, filter, and jump to results directly from VS Code. Also allows moving between your projects through Hawkeye.
Requirements
Windows. This extension launches the Hawkeye desktop app (hawkeye.exe) locally and currently only supports Windows.
Hawkeye installed and indexing the project you want to search.
Features
Multi-tab search, with each tab remembering its own query, group filters, and results.
Toggleable search groups that works as your filters.
Configure Groups: scans your open workspace's top-level folders with include/exclude filters.
Results grouped by file, with matched terms highlighted inline.
Right-click a result to open it with any tool you've configured (or pulled straight from Hawkeye's own tool list), open its repo as a VS Code workspace, or reveal it in File Explorer.
Right-click a tab to close others, or everything to the left/right.
Status bar indicator for whether Hawkeye is running, with one-click start / install prompts.
Getting started
Install and run Hawkeye and index the project(s) you want to search.
Open the Hawkeye icon in the VS Code activity bar.
If prompted, set the Hawkeye install path via Hawkeye: Options (this is usually auto-detected).
Start typing in the search box.

Hawkeye: Run Command 1-4
Runs the 1st–4th tool from your configured list (in order) against the active editor — for assigning keybindings to your most-used tools. Not shown in any menu since the label can't reflect which tool is actually in that slot; bind a shortcut to it via the Keyboard Shortcuts editor if you want instant single-key launch
Hawkeye: Run Tool...
Also appears when you right-click a file in the Explorer or an open editor — lists every configured tool by its real name and icon and runs whichever one you pick against that file
