Preview release — This extension is in early development. Features may be incomplete or unstable. Bug reports and feedback via GitHub Issues are very welcome!
Crop images directly inside VS Code — no external tools needed.
Open any image, draw a crop region, and save it in one click.
Snap Crop is especially handy when working with screenshots for documentation or Markdown files.
It also supports Retina: if your screenshots are captured at @2x resolution,
the built-in downscale option saves the cropped image at half size so it renders crisp at 1× on the web.
Usage
Right-click an image in the Explorer → snap crop...
Features
Crop — visually select a crop region with an interactive cropper
Size presets — save and reuse fixed crop sizes (e.g. 64×64 icons)
Custom filename — optionally set the output filename
Copy Link — automatically copy a Markdown image link () to the clipboard after saving
Downscale for Retina (1/2) — save the cropped image at half size, ideal for @2x assets
