Gitdoro is the definitive productivity engine built specifically for developers. Stop guessing where your time goes and start tracking your deep work flawlessly right from your editor.

Gitdoro automatically captures your focus sessions, syncs seamlessly with your GitHub commits, and transforms your daily coding into a rewarding, gamified experience. With real-time analytics, personalized flow-state insights, and automatic project tracking, you'll eliminate distractions, prevent burnout, and hit your milestones faster. Install the extension, link your Gitdoro account, and turn your raw effort into undeniable, quantifiable progress.

What it does

The Gitdoro VS Code extension acts as a bridge between your local development environment and your Gitdoro dashboard.

  • Tracks Deep Work: By starting the timer, it logs the exact amount of time you spend actively coding.
  • Auto-identifies Projects: It reads your current workspace and Git repository to seamlessly link your tracked time to the correct project on Gitdoro.
  • Background Syncing: Even if you close VS Code unexpectedly, your running sessions are safely preserved and synced to the cloud.
  • Builds your Stats: The tracked time feeds directly into your Gitdoro profile, combining with your GitHub commits to generate your developer report card, levels, and ranks.

How it works (Tutorial)

Getting started with Gitdoro takes less than a minute. Follow these steps to start tracking your first focus session:

1. Connect your Account

After installing the extension from the VS Code Marketplace, look at the bottom right of your VS Code window in the Status Bar. You will see a Gitdoro: Connect button.

  1. Click Gitdoro: Connect.
  2. Your browser will open asking you to authorize the extension securely.
  3. Once authorized, return to VS Code. The status bar will now show your timer starting at ▶ 00:00.

2. Start a Focus Session

When you are ready to enter flow state:

  1. Click the ▶ 00:00 timer on the status bar.
  2. The timer will start ticking (▶ 00:01, ▶ 00:02...). You are now in a focus session!
  3. The extension automatically knows which project you are working on based on your open folder.

3. Pause or Stop a Session

Need a break or finished for the day?

  1. Click the running timer (e.g., ▶ 25:00) on the status bar again.
  2. A menu will appear at the top of VS Code with options:
    • Pause Timer: Temporarily halts the timer. You can resume it anytime.
    • Stop Tracking: Ends the session completely and finalizes the sync to your Gitdoro dashboard.
    • Open Dashboard: Takes you directly to your stats on gitdoro.com.

4. View your Progress

Click Open Dashboard from the menu or visit your Gitdoro profile to see your newly tracked time added to your daily streak, total XP, and project history!
