GitBook for VS CodeWith the GitBook VS Code extension you can create documentation while you code, using your voice. Narrate a quick tutorial while you work and GitBook AI will turn it into documentation for you. Plus, you can access relevant engineering docs right in VS Code. Just ask GitBook AI and it’ll summarize an answer for you in seconds. Getting started
FeaturesWrite documentation by capturing your work in VS Code When you’re working on something in VS Code, you can start a new capture using the GitBook extension. Narrate as you work and GitBook will combine your spoken words with your actions in the app — then turn it all into a technical walkthrough or documentation. Access your engineering docs, right in VS Code The GitBook VS Code extension adds a dedicated side panel to the app, so you can ask GitBook AI questions when you need to reference something in your docs. The extension scans your GitBook documentation and summarizes an answer for you right in the VS Code UI — with clickable references if you want to go read more. Using the extensionTo see the available commands, open the command palette and search “GitBook”. From there, you can change or delete your access token, change your GitBook organization, ask GitBook AI a question, or start, stop and cancel a capture session. When capturing a demo, you can enable your microphone for narration purposes. We’d recommend you narrate your actions as if you’re presenting a demo to your team — GitBook AI will take that information and convert it into useful written documentation. |
