Full Winamp experience — the real Winamp 2.x UI powered by Webamp, including equalizer, playlist, and visualizer
Skin support — browse and apply thousands of classic Winamp skins from the Winamp Skin Museum with one click
Web radio — curated stations (SomaFM, Nightride, Lofi Girl, Classic FM) loaded directly into the playlist
Custom stream URLs — paste any .mp3, .ogg, .m3u, or .pls stream URL and it lands in the Winamp playlist
Local files — load MP3, OGG, WAV, FLAC, AAC, M4A from anywhere on your machine
Zoom control — scale the player from 0.8× to 2.5× with - and +
Activity Bar — lives in the VS Code sidebar as a persistent panel, not a floating window
Getting Started
Install RetroAmp from the VS Code Marketplace
Click the 🎵 icon in the Activity Bar (left sidebar)
The player opens with a curated radio playlist already loaded
Load local music
Click ADD → select your audio files → they appear in the Winamp playlist.
Listen to web radio
The playlist loads with curated stations automatically. To add a custom stream:
Click RADIO
Paste a stream URL (e.g. https://ice2.somafm.com/groovesalad-128-mp3)
Press GO or Enter → track appears in the Winamp playlist
Change skins
Click SKIN
Browse the skin gallery or search by name
Click any skin to apply it instantly
