The Developer Toolkit is a set of Microsoft Visual Studio Integration tools, focused on accelerating the development of custom code for Microsoft Dynamics 365(CRM)

Using the toolkit, you can create, develop and deploy CRM plug-ins, custom workflow assemblies and web resources without leaving the Visual Studio environment.

This is public beta 1 of the toolkit.

11/11/2016- *Updated to remove comparision settings area as that feature is not fully released yet. 

11/22/2016- *Bug Fixes, added support for Service Context Creation for Strong type classes (only for single class create currently)

2/07/2017 - *Many Bug Fixes, Add Solution Packager Integration ( customizations project type ), Added Service Endpoint registration management integrated to CRM Explorer.  ReEnabled Comparision Tools UX, Added Prework to update SDK libs and tools from Nuget ( disabled for now but coming soon ), removed options for MSBuild based builds for now. Defaulted detailed logging to on. 

3/22/2016 - Resolved many reported bugs, added back limited image support (this requires that the plugin be registered once before images can be created), improved pref of strong type class generation when used with 8.2.1.0+ SDK builds ( SDK shipped as  version 8.2.1 ).
Note: Image registration and CrmSvcUtil Improvements require the 8.2.1 download of the SDK tools.

4/2/2017 – Updates to address connectivity issues being experienced by some users.
Bug fix to address issues with Access Denied errors appearing when creating strongly typed classes using some versions of CrmSvcUtil from the SDK.  Exposed Diagnostics switch to support future troubleshooting of issues. 

4/6/2017 – Located the issue with and added compensation logic to work around an issue with some versions of the CRM SDK that caused failures when creating strong classes for CRM entities and operations.

VS2012 issues:
Fixed issue with running developer toolkit on a PC with just visual studio 2012 installed.  Toolkit should now load and run correctly there.

PluginRegistration:
Resolved many reported issues with Image registration.

Fixed Name references in Image registration

Added diagnostic error messages to warn when Plugin Steps are skipped due to bad type information

Added support for duplicate plugin/step names across multiple registrations.  – also added alerts if we cannot disambiguate what you meant to do.

CRM Explorer:
Added Entity name / Action type info to CRM explore plugin view area (like the way PRT works)

Resolved issue where plugin list would not load when the CRM Explorer was opened without a CRM Package project loaded in the solution.

Customizations Project Type:
Resolved issue when creating and syncing customizations projects at various levels of the solution hierarchy

General:
Improved Error Reporting for the Plugin Registration Process into the Error Window.

Fix for rewriting the solution file on each open (Checking it out unnecessarily)

Resolved a crash issue when trying to open a DevTool Project type, canceling, then trying to access the CRM connection menu item on tools.

CRM Explorer: 
Activated Entity name / Action type info to CRM explore plugin view area (like the way PRT works) - was disabled in the first drop. 

General: 
Fixed an error that would cause the CRM connection, and toolkit feature to become unavailable for a project.  Added compensation logic to fix projects that had ended up in a broken state.

CRM Explorer

  • Will be more forgiving of deviations in the crmregister file for known plugins, workflows and images
  • Updated Image Name view to provide similar behavior to PRT
  • Cleaned up some String and Message issues
  • Added additional diagnostics messaging to help with troubleshooting
  • Blocked Editing Assembly data for Online Connections.
  • Fixed an issue where Images would be lost when editing a Plugin Step.

General Updates

  • Fixed several behaviors that could lead to "object not found" errors in the developer toolkit.
  • Fixed an issue where class generation for actions (custom SDK messages) would fail to generate actions.
  • Fixed Workflow Activities being created with the default group name instead of the user requested group name
  • Updated Templates to use 8.1.0.2 Nuget packages as default.
  • Fixed rewrite of crmregisterfile on project load that caused data to be lost.
  • Added notifications if the paths to the SDK tools could not be found.
