Anime Companion is a Visual Studio Code extension that adds a small, interactive, and animated companion character (Koko the Fox Coder) to your workspace. It behaves like a desktop pet, reacting to your typing and keeping you company while coding.
Features
Draggable Mascot: Position the companion anywhere within the sidebar panel. The chosen coordinates are persisted across VS Code restarts.
Interactions: Click on Koko to open her context menu and hear her speak funny developer quotes!
Animation System: Toggles between a gentle bobbing Idle animation and a cheerful Dance bounce/sway.
Typing Reaction: When you start typing in any text editor, Koko instantly bursts into a dance! If you stop typing for 1.5 seconds, she returns to her idle state.
Synthesized Audio: Plays a cute pop chime sound and reads out Koko's dialogue text using the browser's native speech synthesis (Text-to-Speech) in a cute higher pitch!
Commands
Open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P / Cmd+Shift+P) and search for:
Anime Companion: Show Companion: Reveal and focus the companion panel.
Anime Companion: Hide Companion: Fade the companion out.
Anime Companion: Reset Position: Re-center the companion in the panel.
Extension Settings
You can customize the companion's settings:
animeCompanion.character: Select the active companion character (default: koko).
animeCompanion.defaultAnimation: Choose the default starting animation (idle or dance).
