The CodeChron AI Companion is a VS Code extension designed to capture your conversational intent and track token costs during your AI-assisted coding sessions.
Overview
CodeChron is a tool that monitors your codebase to generate intelligent impact and risk analysis. By installing this extension, CodeChron can connect the why (your intent) to the what (the code changes).
Features
Manual Session Tracking: Use the command palette to manually start and stop an AI session.
Intent Capture: When ending a session, briefly state what your goal was.
Standalone Mode: If you don't have the CodeChron desktop app running, your sessions are safely saved locally on your machine.
Auto-Backfill: Once you launch the CodeChron Desktop App, all your offline sessions are automatically synced and analyzed.
Usage
Open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P / Cmd+Shift+P).
Type CodeChron: Start AI Session.
Do your work with your AI assistant.
When finished, open the Command Palette and type CodeChron: End AI Session.
Provide a quick summary of what you accomplished.
Status Bar
Check the bottom right of your VS Code window:
(check) CodeChron: Connected to the desktop app. Data is streaming securely.
(sync-ignored) CodeChron Offline: The desktop app is not running. Data is being saved locally.
