Zenzel Time for VS Code

Make every focused session count. Zenzel Time brings simple, thoughtful time tracking into VS Code so you can start a timer, pause when life interrupts, and finish your day with a clear picture of your work.

Zenzel Time time-tracking view in VS Code

Track work without leaving VS Code

  • Start, pause, resume, and stop task-based timers from the Zenzel Time view or status bar.
  • Keep multiple workspace projects available from the Project selector.
  • Record manual time when a session happened away from your keyboard.
  • Organize work with tasks, tags, notes, and personal or team entries.
  • Review daily, weekly, and task-level totals.
  • Export time reports for sharing, follow-up, or your own records.

Your timer is protected

If VS Code closes or the extension host restarts, Zenzel Time preserves an active timer and restores it from its original start time. Paused sessions retain their paused time as well, so your records remain accurate when you return.

Get started

  1. Open the Zenzel Time view from the VS Code activity bar.
  2. Choose or configure your project.
  3. Create a task and select Start.
  4. Pause or stop the timer whenever needed.
  5. Review your totals and export a report when you’re ready.

Project settings are stored in the non-sensitive .vscode/zenzel-time.json file inside each workspace. Zenzel Time uses VS Code’s secure storage for credentials and other sensitive information.
