Chillaki
Chillaki checks the messages you send to Claude Code, Codex and Cursor's chat, just before they go out. If a message is strongly worded, Chillaki pauses it (it isn't sent) and offers a suggested version that keeps every technical detail. You choose: send the suggested version, or send your original anyway.
Works with Claude Code in the VS Code / Cursor panel, the integrated terminal and a plain terminal.
14-day free trial, no card. Then $4 a month or $40 a year. chillaki.com
How it works
- You send a message to Claude Code, Codex or Cursor's chat.
- Chillaki's hook cleans a copy on your computer: pasted code, logs and stack traces are cut out, and anything that looks like a key, token, password or email address is replaced with a placeholder.
- The cleaned copy is checked. Calm messages go straight through, usually in about half a second.
- If the message is paused, it isn't sent:
- In a chat panel (Claude Code, Codex or Cursor), the suggested version goes straight into the input, with any screenshots you pasted. Read it and press Enter. Use original in the sidebar swaps your own message back in.
- In Cursor's Agents window (no extensions run there), Cursor's note shows the suggested version: edit your paused message (↑ then Enter opens it), replace it, and send.
- In a terminal, the pause message shows the suggested version. Type
/chill (Claude Code) or $chill (Codex) to send it, or send your original the way the pause message shows: Enter in Claude Code 2.1.295 or later (it keeps your message in the input), ↑ then Enter in Codex and older versions. Screenshots go with it either way.
What is sent, and where
- Stays on your computer: pasted code, logs, stack traces, long pasted text, and anything that looks like a secret. They are put back into the suggested version on your computer.
- Sent: the cleaned text only, to the Chillaki server, which asks TypeSafe whether the message is strongly worded and, when it pauses one, asks Cerebras for the suggested version (Groq only as a backup). None of them trains on it, and we never store it.
- Stored: an install id, daily counts (checks, notes, pauses, errors, timings), and, once you sign in, your email and subscription status. We never store or log message text or suggested versions.
Full details: chillaki.com/privacy.
- Header: the level (click to change it) and whether messages are being checked right now.
- A paused message sits on top: "Your message wasn't sent", the suggested version, how many screenshots were kept, and Use original (× dismisses it). Shortcuts while a message is paused:
Ctrl+Alt+Space (suggestion), Ctrl+Alt+Backspace (original).
- Take a breath: a short breathing exercise in its own tab, with seven retro styles (
Ctrl+Alt+H, the "Take a breath · 16 s" button on the pause card, or "Breathe" in the status bar while a message is paused). The pause card stays visible. When it ends you can send the suggested version or your original from there. After a second pause within 10 minutes, the card leads with it. It can also open by itself: on every pause, or when pauses repeat (setting chill.breathing.autoOpen, or the choice at the end of a breath).
- Recent: the last 5 pauses and notes of this session, one line each; click to expand and copy. Kept in memory only.
- Footer: your plan, with Upgrade or Manage; click it for your account and Sign out.
- Title bar icons: Take a breath · Snooze · ⋯ (Try it, Settings).
The status bar item shows the level, and only highlights when something is waiting for you: a paused message or a new note.

A note never holds your message back: it arrives quietly in Recent. Casual or happy swearing ("fuck yes, tests are green") does not count. After you act on a pause, there are no pauses for 5 minutes. The setting chill.pause.autoFill turns off filling the chat's input. Send the same message again within 10 minutes and it goes through unchecked.
Account and trial
Sign in with GitHub or an email link from the sidebar. The 14-day trial starts the first time you sign in from your editor. After the trial, Chillaki steps aside (messages go through unchecked) until you upgrade. Manage, cancel or delete your account any time at chillaki.com/account.
Turn it off or uninstall
- Off for now: Snooze from the title bar, or set the level to Off.
- Remove from Claude Code:
Chillaki: Uninstall hook removes only Chillaki's entry from ~/.claude/settings.json (a backup of the file is kept) and its /chill command.
- Remove the extension: uninstall it from the Extensions view after running
Chillaki: Uninstall hook.
Requirements
Node.js 18 or newer on your PATH (Claude Code already needs it). The first run shows exactly what Chillaki adds to your Claude Code settings (one hook, plus the /chill command in ~/.claude/skills/chill), and nothing is installed until you click Install.
