Dawn for VS Code

Dawn brings your Dawn workspace chat into Visual Studio Code.

What You Can Do

• Chat with Dawn without leaving your editor
• Switch between workspaces and agents directly in the sidebar
• Start multiple chat threads and return to recent conversations
• Let Dawn search and read files from the currently opened trusted workspace
• Download files and attachments returned by Dawn

Sign In

The extension supports:

• browser sign-in with your Dawn account
• Dawn API credential sign-in

Secrets are stored in VS Code secret storage. The webview does not handle credentials directly.

Requirements

• access to a Dawn environment
• at least one Dawn agent enabled for VS Code
• a trusted VS Code workspace if you want Dawn to reference local files

Workspace Access

When the workspace is trusted, Dawn can use client-bound tools against the files in your current editor workspace.

The current client-bound tools are:

• read_workspace_file
• search_workspace
