BreakBuddy is a VS Code extension that cares for you as much as you care about your code. It helps you stay healthy and productive by reminding you to hydrate, stretch, and move. Also features a retro cat companion that mirrors your working habits.

Features

🕒 Periodic Break Notifications

BreakBuddy sends reminders for:

• 💧 Hydration breaks
• 🧘‍♂️ Stretching breaks (Pet Animation WIP)
• 🏋️‍♂️ Exercise breaks

Each break type is fully customizable:

• Set the interval (e.g., every 20 minutes)
• Enable/disable notifications
• Enable Override Locked-In Mode

🔒 Locked-In Mode

Need focus time?
Locked-In Mode temporarily pauses all break notifications for a user-defined duration.

Break types with Override Locked-In Mode enabled will still notify you which is useful for essential reminders like hydration.

When Locked-In Mode ends, BreakBuddy gently encourages you to take a break.

🐾 Retro Cat Companion

Meet your coding buddy!
The retro cat:

• Takes breaks along with you
• Encourages you to follow its healthy habits
• Adds fun, personality, and motivation to your workflow

Requirements

BreakBuddy has no external dependencies.
All functionality runs directly within VS Code.

Known Issues

• Retro pet behavior may not yet reflect all break types.
• Animations and states for the pet are still being expanded.
