🆕 What's new in 3.2.1

  • Direct-deploy hardened — this vsix is fully self-contained: every image, artwork, icon theme and preview is packed inside the extension itself and this README resolves them from the extension folder. The placeholder repository/website links were removed so nothing in the package points at an address that doesn't exist — install straight from the vsix, no marketplace or hosting required

🆕 What's new in 3.2

  • Zero-click visibility — the moment you install, Almora opens the Characters panel by itself, enables the Character Backdrop automatically (one reload shows the art behind your code) and the status bar now reads “Almora — Moid Alam” all day long
  • The banner above is the product — the brand, the author and all 12 characters are baked into that one image, so the name and the art are visible even in the most stubborn viewers
  • Every preview below carries the same baked-in caption — ALMORA · by Moid Alam — plus the edition's character blended into the editor

✨ Features

  • 🕷 Character Backdrops — the characters are actually in your editor — every Marvel and anime edition ships with its own original character artwork, blended as a subtle backdrop behind your code. Spider-Man crouches behind your TypeScript, Black Panther stalks your Python. Enabled automatically on first install, toggleable any time
  • 🧑‍🚀 Almora Characters panel — a sidebar grid where every edition shows its character art; click a card to apply that edition instantly. Almora opens it for you on first install
  • 🖤 OLED by default — every night edition runs a true-black #000000 editor and deeply sunk panels, so black pixels stay truly off on OLED and the syntax floats
  • 🌗 12 editions, one soul — flagship Dark, ultra-deep Midnight, duotone Obsidian, five Marvel editions, three anime editions and one crisp daylight edition — all from one design system, so every edition feels coherent
  • 🌈 Rainbow, built in — colorized bracket pairs and per-level rainbow indent guides baked into every theme, plus a live rainbow-indent overlay you can toggle from the Command Palette
  • 🎨 One-click customization — pick your accent, your active-tab treatment and your find-highlight tint from one menu; Almora writes clean workbench color customizations and can undo them just as cleanly
  • 🗂 Two file icon themes included — Almora Icons: 190+ hand-drawn Seti-style glyphs with 68 folder personalities; Almora Material Icons: the complete Material Icon Theme look with 1250+ flat Material Design glyphs
  • 👀 Active tabs you can't miss — an accent top bar, a lifted tab background and a high-contrast label by default, with three alternative styles
  • ☀️ A daylight edition done right — Almora Light hue-shifts the vivid palette instead of just darkening it, so colors stay rich without vibrating on white
  • ♿ Contrast-first design — every syntax role is validated at generation time against the actual background: ≥ 4.5:1 for body roles, comments tuned to a readable ~3:1

🖼 Previews

The character art you see in these previews is exactly what the Character Backdrop feature draws behind your code — subtle, blended, never in the way.

Almora Spider-Man preview
Almora Spider-Man — web red over black, the neighborhood hero behind your code

Almora Black Panther preview
Almora Black Panther — vibranium purple in the dead of night

Almora Dark preview

Almora Midnight preview
Almora Midnight — the flagship sunk several leagues lower

Almora Demon Slayer preview

Almora Light preview
Almora Light — the one daylight edition, crisp and sun-tuned

🕷 Character Backdrops

This is the part that makes the editions more than just names: the character is in the editor with you, painted as a faint, glowing artwork behind your code so it blends instead of fighting your syntax.

  • Enabled automatically on first install — Almora asks for a single window reload and the art is there
  • Switching between Almora editions automatically swaps the backdrop art to that edition's character
  • Toggle any time with Almora: Toggle Character Backdrop (or the button in the Characters panel)
  • Fine-tune with the Almora settings: backdrop opacity (designed default 16%) and backdrop position (bottom-right, bottom-left or centered)
  • Turning it off removes Almora's block and your editor is back to plain colors
  • The first enable edits VS Code's workbench CSS — Almora keeps a one-time backup of the original file. VS Code may show its standard "installation appears to be corrupt" notice once — it is harmless and expected; disabling the backdrop and reloading restores the pristine file

🧑‍🚀 The Characters Panel

Click the Almora Characters icon in the Activity Bar (Almora opens it for you on first install):

  • every edition appears as a card with its character art and a one-line tagline
  • the active edition is highlighted
  • click any card to apply that edition — theme and backdrop swap together
  • one button toggles the backdrop, one opens the Almora settings
  • the panel header carries the brand: ALMORA — by Moid Alam · publisher AlmoraTheme

🌗 The 12 Editions

🌈 Rainbow, Built In

Almora ships rainbow colorization out of the box — no extra extensions needed:

  • Bracket pairs follow a six-stop ramp that starts at your edition's accent and rotates the hue wheel
  • Indent guides are rainbow per level — muted while scanning, vivid on the active depth
  • Live rainbow indent paints indentation levels directly in the editor; toggle it with Almora: Toggle Rainbow Indent and fine-tune opacity or colors through the Almora settings
  • Find highlights come in four tints — Blue, Green, Amber or Violet — via Almora: Pick Find Highlight Style

🗂 File Icon Themes

Open Preferences: File Icon Theme and pick either theme — or apply them with one click from the Almora menu:
