Aistim Agent for VS Code

A small VS Code sidebar chat that connects to a local Ollama server. It supports streaming replies, model selection, conversation history during the view session, and optional context from the active file or selected code. It is a standalone chat view; it does not add Ollama to GitHub Copilot's model picker.

Requirements

  • VS Code 1.90 or later

  • Ollama running on the computer

  • At least one model downloaded, for example:

    ollama pull qwen2.5-coder:7b

Run from source

  1. Open this folder in VS Code.
  2. Run npm install.
  3. Run npm run compile.
  4. Press F5 to launch the Extension Development Host.
  5. Open Aistim Agent in the Activity Bar.

Set aistimAgent.ollamaUrl and aistimAgent.model in VS Code Settings to use a different Ollama server or default model.

Publish to the Visual Studio Marketplace

The GitHub Actions workflow publishes non-prerelease GitHub Releases to the Marketplace using OIDC Trusted Publishing; it does not store a Marketplace token in GitHub.

  1. In the Marketplace publisher Aistim-Agent, create a Trusted Publishing policy with repository owner Lab-sah, repository Aistim-Agent, workflow marketplace-publish.yml, and no environment.
  2. Ensure the extension version in package.json matches the release tag (for example, version 0.1.2 with tag v0.1.2).
  3. Create and publish a GitHub Release for that tag. The workflow compiles and publishes the extension.
