CodeBeam QR – Offline Project Transfer
Move a source-code workspace from VS Code to the CodeBeam bare React Native mobile app through animated QR frames. CodeBeam uses no cloud, account, network, cable, or remote API for the transfer.
Use
- Open a trusted workspace and run CodeBeam: Beam Workspace from the Command Palette, Explorer folder context menu, or status bar.
- Review included files, ignored bytes, detected frameworks, potential secrets, compressed size, and estimated duration.
- Select Reliable, Balanced, or Turbo. Optionally enable passphrase encryption.
- Start the beam and point the CodeBeam mobile scanner at the QR stream until the phone verifies completion.
After a successful full beam, CodeBeam: Beam Changes creates a content-hash delta. The phone applies it only to the exact matching project version.
Local by architecture
- Workspace scanning, archive creation, compression, encryption, and QR rendering run locally.
- Packaging and encryption use workers so the VS Code extension host stays responsive.
- High-confidence secret findings are excluded by default; explicit review is still required because detection is heuristic.
- Fountain packets tolerate missed, duplicated, corrupt, out-of-order frames and joining midstream.
- The transmitter loops until you stop it. Profile changes and restarts create a fresh session.
CodeBeam supports common .NET, Node/TypeScript, web framework, Python, Java, Android/Kotlin, Flutter, Go, Rust, PHP, Ruby, C/C++, Swift/Xcode, Unity, and Unreal layouts. .gitignore and .codebeamignore are layered over built-in source-oriented rules.
Requirements
- VS Code 1.96 or newer.
- A trusted local workspace.
- The matching CodeBeam Mobile application and a camera capable of scanning QR codes.
Only transfer code and files you are authorized to copy. CodeBeam is not intended to bypass organizational controls.
