More Info

Zoon

A quiet dark theme with a deep black background and small, bright accents. Zoon means moon in Kashmiri: a name for a little light against the dark.

  • Deep black editor and workbench (#101010).
  • Soft off-white text with neutral keywords and function names.
  • Bright green strings, purple constants and literals, and cyan types.
  • Bold named constants, enum members, and macros; no italics.
  • TextMate and semantic highlighting rules for use across languages.

Install

Download the .vsix file from the latest GitHub release. In VS Code, Cursor, or VSCodium:

  1. Open the Command Palette and run Extensions: Install from VSIX….
  2. Choose the downloaded file.
  3. Run Preferences: Color Theme and choose Zoon.

This repository contains a VS Code theme extension. Zed uses a different theme format and is not supported by this package.

Syntax highlighting

Use your usual language extensions for C, C++, Python, Haskell, OCaml, Rust, Go, TypeScript, and JavaScript. Color and constant detection depend on their grammars and semantic tokens. For example, some C++ providers classify a constexpr name as an ordinary variable, so it retains the neutral style. The theme cannot identify constants from uppercase spelling alone.

Customize and preview

npm ci
npm run build

Edit palette.json to change colors, or scripts/build-theme.mjs to change scope and semantic token rules. Build again to update the generated theme.

Open this project in Visual Studio Code and press F5 to launch Preview Zoon. The preview workspace selects Zoon and includes visual fixtures for nine languages. Theme file changes update live in the Extension Development Host. The samples are not a buildable multi-language project.

npm run package

This builds the theme and creates zoon-theme-0.1.0.vsix. The installed extension has no runtime dependencies or executable extension code.
