Extension Icons

A file icon theme for VS Code that gives each file an icon based on its extension, file name, or language.

Enable it

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) → Preferences: File Icon Theme → Extension Icons.

What's covered

• Web: JavaScript, TypeScript, JSX/TSX, Vue, Svelte, HTML, CSS, Sass, Less
• Languages: Python, Go, Rust, Java, Kotlin, Swift, Dart, C, C++, C#, PHP, Ruby, Shell, PowerShell, SQL
• Data and config: JSON, YAML, TOML, XML, .env
• Docs and media: Markdown, text, PDF, SVG, images, archives
• Special files: package.json, lockfiles, Git files, Dockerfile, README, LICENSE, CLAUDE.md
• Folders, plus a default icon for anything else
