With the VERIFIn extension for Visual Studio Code, you can remotely invoke VERIFIn directly from your workstation.
This gives you instant feedback as you write without leaving VS Code.
Validation process
The extension uses the VERIFIn REST API to send JCL from your local workstation to a remote mainframe system for validation. The results are returned to the extension, which annotates the JCL in the active editor.
Prerequisites
The VERIFIn extension requires the following prerequisites.
A Zowe team configuration file (zowe.config.json) with a configured base profile pointing at an active API ML gateway that includes a host and API ML port must be set up.
Note: Zowe Explorer must be present on the local workstation because the VERIFIn extension uses Zowe Explorer to access the VERIFIn REST API through the Zowe API ML.
Remote mainframe system
VERIFIn, with the VERIFIn REST API installed
Zowe 3.0
Features
Inline diagnostics: results of the JCL validation are annotated directly in the editor and listed in the Problems panel, with options to display the full message.
JCL language support: syntax highlighting and language configuration for .jcl files, including rulers at columns 72 and 80.
Commands
These commands can be accessed from the Command Palette.
Check JCL (VERIFIn: Check JCL): validates the JCL in the active editor using the remote VERIFIn REST API.
Authenticate with API (VERIFIn: Authenticate with API): establishes or refreshes the Zowe API ML token used for validation requests.
Set Target System Password (VERIFIn: Set Target System Password): securely stores or removes the password used to check JCL against a specific target system. Applicable only when the System and User settings are specified.
Configuration
Set configuration options by going to the Settings editor and searching for "verifin". Alternatively, edit settings.json directly using the verifin.* parameters.
