Even though Visual Studio 2012 now offers the ability to create a Visual Web Part project template as a sandboxed solution, that does not help many developers who have not yet adopted Visual Studio 2012 or even installed the Visual Studio 2012 Release Candidate on their workstations or local machines and continue to work with Visual Studio 2010. Therefore, there is no reason that Visual Studio 2010 developers cannot enjoy the same benefits as Visual Studio 2012 users! I have provided this Sandboxed compatible Visual Web Part project templatefor those developers that wish to get up and running quickly with Visual Web Parts. This is different than theitem template provided by Microsoft as part of the SharePoint Power Tools. This leverages the same functionality available in Visual Studio 2012 for SharePoint Visual Web Part development--but for Visual Studio 2010 developers. NOTE: Visual Studio Gallery has some limitations on file path length within VSIX files, therefore, the project template will only display at the root of the SharePoint hierarchy rather than beneath SharePoint/2010. The name of the template is Visual Web Part(Sandboxed). Enjoy! |
