An Azure DevOps dashboard widget that visualizes all open Risk work items as a Likelihood x Impact matrix. Each cell shows the count of open risks that fall into that Likelihood/Impact combination, and is color-coded (green/yellow/orange/red) using the same qualitative risk-rating scheme as a standard risk matrix.
Features
Queries open work items of a configurable type (default: Risk).
Groups them by two configurable fields — Likelihood/Probability (rows) and Impact/Consequence
(columns) — and displays the count per cell.
Clicking a cell's count badge shows the underlying list of risks (with links to each work
item) below the matrix when the widget is tall enough (3+ grid rows); in shorter/compact
layouts, clicking instead opens a new browser tab with a Boards query listing exactly
those risks.
Color-codes cells using the classic risk matrix (Low / Medium / High / Very High)
Fully configurable from the widget's configuration pane:
Work item type
Optional Area Path filter (multi-select)
Likelihood/Impact field reference names, with the pick-and-reorder level list (or
manual fallback input) described above
Detects and adapts to Azure DevOps Light and Dark themes
Configure
After installing the extension and adding the Risk Matrix widget to a
dashboard, open its configuration to set the work item type, field names, and
level names to match your project's Risk work item type.
