Artifacts Downloader

Get the latest build artifact in two clicks, no Azure DevOps expertise required.

Product Owners, testers and business users constantly need the latest build to test, demo or ship but Azure Pipelines is built for developers. Artifacts Downloader adds a simple page to your project where anyone can find a build and download its artifacts, without understanding pipelines, runs or logs.

Artifacts Downloader: pick a pipeline, click a build, download the artifact

How to install

  1. Click Get it free at the top of this page.
  2. Select your Azure DevOps organization and click Install. Installing an extension requires organization admin rights, if you don't have them, the same button lets you send a request to your admin, who can approve it with one click.
  3. Done, the extension is now available in every project of the organization, for all users, with no per-user setup.

How it works

  1. Open Pipelines → Artifacts Downloader in any project.
  2. Pick a project (it defaults to the one you're in) and a pipeline from the dropdowns.
  3. Browse the recent builds, build number, branch, who requested it, status and date. Use the filter box to narrow them down instantly.
  4. Click a build, then hit Download next to the artifact you need. The file comes straight from Azure DevOps to your browser.

That's it. No PATs, no REST APIs, no CLI, no extra logins: the extension runs inside Azure DevOps with the permissions each user already has.

Features

  • Made for non-developers one page, three steps, zero pipeline jargon
  • All your projects in one place switch project from the dropdown, no need to navigate around Azure DevOps
  • Fast even with busy pipelines loads the 100 most recent builds with instant text filtering (build number, branch, requester, status)
  • Direct downloads artifacts stream from Azure DevOps to the browser; nothing passes through third-party servers
  • Respects your security model users only see the projects, pipelines and builds they already have access to

Why this exists

Developers live inside Azure Pipelines every day. POs, testers and stakeholders don't yet they need build outputs all the time. This extension removes the "can you send me the latest build?" ping-pong between teams.

Permissions & privacy

The extension requests only the Build (read) and Project and team (read) scopes. It reads projects, pipelines, builds and artifacts through the official Azure DevOps REST API, inside your organization. Nothing is sent anywhere else, and nothing is stored outside Azure DevOps. Users only ever see what their own permissions already allow.
