POMP — AI Coding Assistant for Visual Studio

POMP brings AI agents into Visual Studio to help you understand code, make changes, run builds and tests, and investigate problems. Agents work with your editor, solution, and debugger while you review proposed changes and control permissions.

Connect a supported subscription account or API key to use your preferred model provider.

Features

  • Code assistance with project context — Ask questions about your code, include files or selected lines, and request edits directly in the editor.
  • Build, test, and debug — Run builds and tests, inspect errors and output, manage breakpoints, and work with debugger state and call stacks.
  • Project tools — Explore your solution, add or rename project files, manage NuGet packages, and review Git changes before committing or pushing.
  • Agents and teams — Create specialized agents with their own instructions, models, and tools. Organize them into teams that work in parallel or in sequence.
  • Reusable context and workflows — Save reference material, define project rules, and use skills, workflows, and MCP servers to extend what agents can do.
  • Integrated interface — Work in a Visual Studio tool window with theme support, conversation history, and English or Korean UI.

Getting Started

  1. Install the POMP package for your Visual Studio version.
  2. Open your solution and the POMP tool window.
  3. Connect a supported provider in the Accounts tab.
  4. Ask a question or describe a task. Add relevant code or files, then review proposed actions as they appear.

Control and Privacy

POMP requests approval by default before changes or execution. Permissions can be adjusted for tools and agent runs.

Editor changes are shown as a diff before approval and applied to the editor buffer without automatically saving the file. If the file changes while approval is pending, POMP requires a fresh read before applying the edit.

Conversations and workspace settings are stored locally. Saved API keys are encrypted using Windows user protection. Model requests and included code context are sent to your connected provider; external tools communicate with their configured services. POMP does not upload your data to its own servers.

Requirements

  • Visual Studio: 2017 version 15.9, 2019 version 16.10 or later, 2022, or 2026.
  • Editions: Community, Professional, or Enterprise. ARM64 Visual Studio is not supported.
  • Windows: Windows 10 or 11.
  • Dependencies: Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime 111.0.1661.41 or later and .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later.
  • Model access: A supported provider account or API key. Provider usage limits and charges may apply.

Use the VS2017 package for Visual Studio 2017, the VS2019 package for 2019, and the VS2022 package for both 2022 and 2026.

Tested on Visual Studio 2019 16.11 and Visual Studio 2026 18.10 experimental instances. Visual Studio 2022 uses the same package as 2026 but has not been tested directly.
