xSkrape for SQL Server tools: Visual Studio Extension

What Is It?

Imagine being able to write SQL queries against:

  • Data available in web API requests (JSON, XML, CSV, TSV, etc.), supporting many different "shapes" of data
  • Data present on web pages (HTML), including semi-structured formats on the web such as Google Sheets
  • Raw Excel files located on file shares and web locations
  • All of the above, contained inside Zip files
  • Flat files (web or local)
  • Log files (e.g. w3svc logs)

... all of these scenarios and more have been addressed by xSkrape. The Visual Studio extension offers a way to quickly generate SQL wrapper objects that turn these external sources into user-defined functions that can be used as if they're views.
