Product Description - SSAS Entity Framework Provider (tm)

SSAS Entity Framework Provider (tm) (patent pending) enables you to use LINQ and Microsoft ADO.NET Entity Framework to querySSAS OLAP cubes and offline cube files like they were a regular relational database, but with the same outstanding performance offered by SSAS cubes, even when your data volume is measures in terabytes.

Say goodbye to all time spent on performance optimizations of your SQL and denormalization. With our product LINQ is much faster than SQL, especially for big data volumes, and your OLTP database schema can stay perfectly normal.
And SSAS is not even required (but it is recommended for large data volumes) - see ourFAQ for details.

See example: LINQ vs. LINQ/SDX vs. MDX Comparison

You do not need to specify 'join', 'group by', 'Sum()', 'Average(), 'orderby', ... any more. You do not need that because most of the time your cube already knows how to join, group, aggregate and sort data.
In fact SSAS cubes store your data in a pre-aggregated, pre-joined and compressed format, that is whySSAS MOLAP runs queries in a fraction of a second, even when your OLTP relational database size is measured in terabytes, and a corresponding SQL query may take many hours. Creating and maintaining general purpose SSAS cubes takes a fraction of time spent on denormalizing relational data structures for each specific long running query, optimizing indexes and optimizing / retesting SQL.

SSAS Entity Framework Provider (tm) uses a streamlined dialect of LINQ - SDX (LINQ Simple Dimensional eXtensions). Even if you never knew neither LINQ nor MDX you can learn enough of LINQ / SDX in 30 minutes. SDX protects you from many of potential mistakes that would slow down your MDX query.

See Getting Started Walkthrough for detailed step-by-step instructions how to setup and run SDX.
