BrowserStack Test Companion for Visual Studio

Test Companion brings BrowserStack's AI testing agent directly into Visual Studio. Generate, run, and maintain tests without leaving your IDE — the agent understands your codebase, drives real browsers and mobile devices on the BrowserStack cloud, and keeps your test management in sync.

What you can do

  • Generate test cases from a description, a user story, or existing code, grounded in your project's own conventions.
  • Automate across web and mobile — the agent launches browsers and cloud-hosted mobile devices, performs actions, and captures results.
  • Run accessibility scans and surface WCAG issues inline.
  • Analyze test failures with root-cause context pulled from your runs.
  • Connect your workflow — Test Management, Jira, and Confluence links are fetched and kept in context; results flow back to your test management project.
  • Bring your own context — attach images, docs, and links; the agent reads them as it works.

Getting started

  1. Install the extension and reload Visual Studio.
  2. Open the Test Companion tool window (View → Other Windows → Test Companion).
  3. Sign in with your BrowserStack account.
  4. Describe what you want to test, and let the agent take it from there.

Requirements

  • Visual Studio 2022 (17.14 or newer).
  • A BrowserStack account (a free trial works for evaluation).
  • The Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime (installed with modern Visual Studio).
