You can use the control in LightSwitchdesign without a license or Salesforce to browse through the entities, attributes and relationships. Take a look! You can also sign-up for a free Salesforce Developer edition in DeveloperForce. You developer account can be up and working within a few minutes. You will need to request a security token for API access. Try it in the free VS11 beta with LightSwitch!

Pre-requisites:

A Salesforce instance (if you want live data)

A Salesforce Developer edition or Enterprise and above subscription

Free license key for the adapter supplied by Xpert360

Based on ‘Username’ to be used to access Salesforce CRM and ‘Organization Name’ used for the subscription.

A credentials XML file

With username, password, security token and license key
Security mechanisms are planned to be significantly expanded in the next release
We will take into account any feedback as regards customer security requirements

The software media is a signed and certified VSIX package and supports VS2010 and VS11 beta.

Install the software.

Create a LightSwitch project

Enable the extension
Add a data source (RIA) and supply the credentials file location as the connection string
Select entities
Compose your LightSwitch solution
