Note: For those amongst you that do not have one or more of the pre-requisites and want to take a look at the adapter, well you can. Thelicense only covers connecting to Salesforce data. You can use the control in LightSwitchdesign without a license or Salesforce to browse through the entities, attributes and relationships. Take a look! You can also sign-up for a free Salesforce Developer edition in DeveloperForce. You developer account can be up and working within a few minutes. You will need to request a security token for API access. Try it in the free VS11 beta with LightSwitch!

Pre-requisites:

A Salesforce instance (if you want live data)

  • A Salesforce Developer edition or Enterprise and above subscription

Free license key for the adapter supplied by Xpert360

  • Based on ‘Username’ to be used to access Salesforce CRM and ‘Organization Name’ used for the subscription.

A credentials XML file

  • With username, password, security token and license key
  • Security mechanisms are planned to be significantly expanded in the next release
  • We will take into account any feedback as regards customer security requirements

The software media is a signed and certified VSIX package and supports VS2010 and VS11 beta.

  • Install the software.

Create a LightSwitch project

  • Enable the extension
  • Add a data source (RIA) and supply the credentials file location as the connection string
  • Select entities
  • Compose your LightSwitch solution
