External Work Item Links

Overview

The External Work Item Links extension allows users to attach multiple external URLs to Azure DevOps work items. This extension provides an intuitive interface for adding, managing, and removing links directly within the work item form.

How It Works

1. Add Links: Click the "Add Link" button to input a URL, an optional title, and an optional ID.
2. Save Links: Links are saved in a specified custom field within the work item.
3. Manage Links: View and remove links as needed.
4. Customisation: Configure the label name and data storage fields.

Installation & Configuration

Prerequisites

• Azure DevOps Services (Cloud or Server)
• Permission to install extensions in your organisation/project

Installation

1. Navigate to the Azure DevOps Marketplace.
2. Search for External Work Item Links.
3. Click "Get it free" to install the extension in your organisation.

Configuration

After installation:

1. Customise a work item in Azure DevOps.
2. Create a custom string field to store the URL Data.
3. Add the External Work Item Links control.
4. Configure the control settings:
   • Custom Control Label (String): Set a label for the control.
   • Custom Field for Storage (String): Specify the work item field where the link data will be stored.
5. Start adding and managing external links!
