TickTick for Visual Studio (Preview)

Manage your TickTick tasks without leaving Visual Studio. Browse, add, edit and complete tasks in a tool window, and turn the code you're looking at into a task in one step.

Features

• Your tasks in a tool window. Open tasks are grouped by Overdue, Today, Tomorrow, Next 7 days, Later and No date, with priority colours, tags and projects.
• One project per window. Pick All projects, the Inbox or a single project. Each Visual Studio window remembers its own choice.
• Quick add with TickTick's own syntax: Review PR #code ^Work !high tomorrow 9am creates Review PR, tagged code, in Work, high priority, due tomorrow at 9:00. Type # or ^ for tag and project suggestions, and press Tab to accept one.
• Capture a task from code. Select code, then choose Extensions > Add TickTick task from selection (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+A). The first line becomes the title, the file and line number go in the description, and a longer selection is attached as a comment. A Go to code link takes you back to the file.
• Edit, complete, snooze. Tick a task to complete it, use Tomorrow to snooze it, and edit its title, description and due date in place.
• Comments. Read a task's comments without leaving the IDE.
• Filter and search. Type to filter the loaded tasks instantly, or press Enter to search every open task in TickTick.

Getting started

1. In the TickTick web app, click your avatar, then Settings > Account > API Token, and create a token.
2. In Visual Studio, choose Extensions > Sign in to TickTick and paste the token.
3. Open the window from Extensions > TickTick Tasks (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+T).

Due dates

Type dates in plain text: today, tomorrow, fri, next week, in 3 days, eom, 5 Oct or 2026-10-05, optionally with a time such as 14:30, 9am or noon. Leave the field empty to clear the date.

Privacy and security

• No telemetry. The extension has no server, no analytics and no crash reporting. It talks only to api.ticktick.com.
• Your token stays on your machine. It is encrypted with Windows DPAPI for your Windows user only, never stored in Visual Studio's roaming settings, and only ever sent to TickTick over HTTPS.
• Full account access. A TickTick API token grants full access to your account. You can revoke it in TickTick at any time. Signing out removes it from your computer.
• Code is sent only when you ask. Add TickTick task from selection uploads the selected snippet to your TickTick account. Nothing else reads or sends your code.

Known limitations in this preview

• Repeating dates are shown, but have to be set in TickTick.
• Task descriptions are shown as plain text, so TickTick's formatting appears as raw Markdown.
• Open in TickTick opens the TickTick web app rather than the specific task.
• Dates are written in your PC's time zone. If your PC and your TickTick account use different time zones, TickTick's own apps may show some dates shifted.
