Visual Studio draw.io Extension

An elegant Visual Studio 2026 extension loaded with advanced capabilities to design, view, and edit draw.io diagrams natively inside your favorite IDE. This extension was inspired by Draw.Io integration extension for Visual Studio Code by Henning Dietrichs.

Quick Start Guide

1. Create Diagram: Right-click any folder inside the Solution Explorer and choose Add -> New Item.
2. Select draw.io File: Pick one of the .drawio, drawio.png, drawio.svg templates to create your visual model instantly.
3. Double Click to Design: Simply double click any diagram file inside Visual Studio editor view.
4. Edit and Save: Make your changes and save from edtiore window to see the updates reflected in the file immediately. You can also use the Visual Studio standard save options to save your work.
5. Open diagram: Open any existing .drawio, .drawio.png, .drawio.svg file to view and edit it directly within the IDE. You can also use Open with to open .png, .svg that are saved from draw.io.
