Product Setup

User Sign In/Registration

Once Cortex extension is installed, a find Pervaziv AI commands under Tools of Visual Studio in the top menu. You can choose to "Sign In" or "Register" in the browser.

Registration Steps

Choose the country of origin and your preferred authentication provider. We support several providers such as Github, Google and others. Fill in the details for your "Account Information", "General Information" and agree to the "Terms and Conditions". Then click "Register" to complete the registration process. You will receive a confirmation email for registration and a subsequent approval from Pervaziv AI. Once the registration is approved, you can return to the Cortex Sign In process to use the product.

Chat with Pervaziv AI Cortex

Pervaziv AI Cortex provides instant guidance for coding and security-related questions. You can maintain multiple chat sessions to keep conversations organized and ask follow-up questions. It delivers clear explanations, actionable suggestions, and best-practice advice, all tailored to each session to help you understand issues, improve your code, and make informed decisions quickly.

Run a Scan and Apply Suggested Fixes

Interactive scan results

View vulnerabilities in the results panel, and click any item to highlight the corresponding line in your code, color-coded by severity.

Apply a fix

When a vulnerability is detected, click Apply Pervaziv AI fix to open a suggested changes window. The window shows a diff highlighting the proposed modifications, along with severity indicators. You can review the changes in context and decide whether to apply the fix.

Pervaziv AI Cortex Commands

Pervaziv AI Cortex comes with a set of built-in commands to help you quickly interact with the extension. Commands can be accessed in three ways:

From the Chat Input: Type “/” to open a dropdown of available commands.

From the Pervaziv AI Cortex Toolbar: Use the dedicated Commands section on the left panel.

From the Visual Studio Tools: Search for Pervaziv AI Cortex and view/run list of available commands.

List of Commands:

Sign In – Authenticate and sign in to your Pervaziv AI account.

Run Scan – Select the current file and run a vulnerability scan. Results will appear in the Cortex Toolbar with a scan report.

Sign Out – Safely sign out of the extension.

Clear All Chat – Delete all existing chat sessions in one step.

Chat Action Buttons

Above the chat input, you’ll also find three quick-access buttons for common actions:

New Chat – Start a new chat session without affecting existing ones.

Clear Chat – Delete only the currently active chat session.

Run Scan – Trigger a vulnerability scan on the open file in context (same as the Run Scan command).

FAQs

Do I need an account to use Pervaziv AI Cortex?

Yes. You’ll need to register/sign in using one of the supported identity providers. This keeps your scans and chat sessions secure and personalized.

What file types are supported for scanning?

The extension currently supports files from a variety of popular programming languages like Python, JavaScript, Java, C/C++, etc. Additionally, we are constantly updating and supporting more languages. Keep an eye on our blogs for more updates on Cortex and our other products.

Can I use the AI Assistant beyond security checks?

Yes. The assistant isn’t limited to vulnerability fixes. You can ask general coding questions, request explanations of code snippets, or seek best practices to improve performance and maintainability.

How do I get deeper insights beyond what’s shown in Visual Studio?

You can open the Pervaziv AI Dashboard from the extension, where you’ll find more detailed analytics, historical scan data, and account settings.

This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") is a legal contract between you ("Licensee", "you", or "your") and Pervaziv AI ("Licensor", "we", "us", or "our") governing the use of the Pervaziv AI’s Extensions Visual Studio extension ("Extension").

By installing, copying, or using this Extension, you agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement. If you do not agree to these terms, do not install or use the Extension.

1. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with this Agreement and any applicable payment obligations, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Extension solely for your internal development purposes.

This license:

• Is for individual or commercial developer use only;
• Does not allow redistribution, resale, sublicensing, or public hosting;
• Does not grant access to source code, which remains proprietary.

2. Ownership and Intellectual Property

This Extension is licensed, not sold. The Extension and all intellectual property rights therein are and shall remain the sole and exclusive property of Pervaziv AI.

You acquire no ownership or other interest in the Extension except the limited usage rights granted under this Agreement.

3. Commercial Use

You may use this Extension in the development of commercial or internal software applications. However, this license does not allow you to:

• Integrate or bundle the Extension into commercial products;
• Offer the Extension as a service;
• Share the Extension with others outside your licensed organization or individual license.

For enterprise licensing, bulk seats, or redistribution rights, contact us directly.

4. Restrictions

You may not:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Extension;
• Modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the Extension;
• Distribute, resell, sublicense, or rent the Extension;
• Use the Extension in any way that violates applicable laws, or infringes on the rights of any third party;
• Circumvent any licensing restrictions or protections.

5. Fees and Payments

If this Extension is offered as a paid product, your license is contingent upon full and timely payment of applicable license fees. Non-payment or chargeback may result in immediate termination of the license.

6. Termination

This Agreement is effective until terminated. We may terminate your license immediately without notice if you breach any terms of this Agreement.

Upon termination:

• You must stop all use of the Extension;
• You must uninstall and delete all copies of the Extension from your systems.

7. Support and Updates

We may provide updates or support for the Extension at our sole discretion. Use of updates is governed by this same Agreement unless accompanied by a separate license.

8. Disclaimer of Warranty

THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

9. Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THIS AGREEMENT OR YOUR USE OF THE EXTENSION, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE LICENSE FEES PAID FOR THE EXTENSION.

10. Third-Party Software

The Extension may rely on third-party libraries or APIs, which are subject to their own licenses. You agree to comply with all applicable third-party terms.

11. Marketplace Terms

Use of this Extension through the Visual Studio Marketplace is also subject to the Marketplace Terms of Use. In case of conflict, this Agreement prevails with respect to the Extension.

12. Governing Law

This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of USA/CA and USA/DE, without regard to conflict of laws principles.

14. Entire Agreement
